There was a cockroach in the washing machine. I had to do some quick thinking to get him out, but those little legs are so fast!

In the past few hours, since it got dark, I've killed three lightning bugs and one green flying beetle thing. My windows are closed, the only way they could get in would be through the air conditioner (unless bugs have mastered the art of teleportation). Seriously. This is ridiculous. I don't need large flying insects sharing my living space.

I had a "genius" moment a few minutes ago. I was thinking about my *incredibly* inefficient windows that have *huge* gaps because of the way they had to put in the A/C unit (the windows are old slat windows and there's a huge gap between the old window and where they had to cut the bottom off to put the A/C in - then there's the storm window they ( Read more... )

Altgeld Hall is attempting to hold a concert (presumably a 9/11 related concert since usually the daily concert is at 1:00). For those who don't know, Altgeld is home to our Math and Actuarial Sciences departments, and it also has a bell tower. Five minutes before I walked out the door this morning, I saw something out of the corner of my eye on the wall. I looked over and saw that a giant house spider was scurrying up the wall. I've been finding little itty bitty spiders dangling over my head while I'm in my room, on my bed. They're so tiny, I have no problem with using my fingers to squish the life out of them. But tonight, I'd killed two, and then later I was just getting ready for bed when I noticed another over my pillow. That warranted a full out inspection. ( Read more... )

Went into the bathroom this morning and found this in the sink. OH, all that is holy. I shrieked like the little girl I am and ran for the bug spray. Hmph. Drain spider indeed. If I ever see any in my room we are *done*. I will have to move out.

These dogs seem to be some of the dumbest creatures alive. Heidi is persisting in laying down in puddles left by the rain, even after I yell at her for it. Daisy, on the other hand, is intently watching for rabbits, four of which have been spotted so far.
